Our Story

I still have CD’s.  Actually, I have around 1700 of them.  That’s in addition to all the digital music I have - times being what they are.  And tunes go with me wherever I go, in one form or another.

But it all started with my mom’s record collection.  I was a little kid with no idea that (aside from whatever was on the radio in 1983 or so)  kids listened to anything other than the classic rock and R&B records I was helping myself to.  That sound!  Original LP’s of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, “Hotel California,” Marvin Gaye, James Taylor, Motown...at the age of 7 I was spinning an original copy of The Kinks’ “Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire).”  The guitars got me from the beginning.  And when I found a copy of the Brown Bomber - Led Zeppelin II - my life changed forever.

Over the years, playing guitar and drums in bands, listening to everything from The Jackson 5 to Megadeth, I’ve loved tone.

I started Panzer Effect Technologies to share the quest for that tone.  The particular tone may be different for each guitarist, but every serious guitarist knows the tone I mean.  The sound that he or she dials in to not just express himself or herself, but to make the guitar sing in the voice of the guitarist.  For me it’s Page and Hendrix somedays, SRV others.  For you it might be Malmsteen, Dimeola, EVH, Gilmour, McLaughlin…

Whatever that tone, I wanted to make pedals that guitarists could use to channel their own, customized sound.

The PET Difference

The sounds of Panzer Effect Technologies pedals undoubtedly are conceived in the image of classic rock and blues tones of the guitar gods.  But why be satisfied with just another clone?  Whether it’s a fuzz like Hendrix, an overdrive like Stevie Ray, or any other effect, Panzer Effect Technologies pedals are not just repackaged copies of the classic pedals from the big manufacturers.  Some pedals add expanded tone shaping capabilities with their EQ stacks, while others use technology tweaks to make the pedals play nicely with the rest of your board.  From beginning to end, the difference is in the creation of Panzer Effect Technologies pedals by a tone-passionate guitarist with real guitarists in mind.  If I wouldn’t test out a prototype and say “that would be awesome on stage!,” I won’t put my name on it.
